It can become a problem when worry or fear starts interfering with your everyday life.
Anxiety may show up as thoughts, emotions, physical sensations or behaviours.
You might experience:
What can anxiety therapy help with?
Our therapists support people experiencing many different forms of anxiety, including:
Generalized anxiety and excessive worry
You may feel like there is always something to worry about. Therapy can help you understand patterns of worry and develop healthier ways of responding to uncertainty.
Panic attacks
Panic attacks can feel frightening and unpredictable. Therapy can help you understand the anxiety response, identify triggers and develop tools for managing panic.
Social anxiety
If you frequently worry about being judged, embarrassed or rejected, you may avoid social situations or spend a lot of time replaying interactions afterwards. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and gradually build confidence.
Overthinking
Sometimes your brain tries to solve every possible problem before it happens. Therapy can help you recognize when thinking has shifted from useful problem solving into an anxiety cycle.
Intrusive thoughts
Unwanted thoughts can feel disturbing or difficult to dismiss. Therapy can help you understand your relationship with these thoughts without automatically treating every thought as something that needs to be solved.
Health anxiety
Worry about your health can become consuming, especially when checking or reassurance only provides temporary relief. Therapy can help you understand these cycles and develop different ways of responding.
Anxiety related to pregnancy and parenthood
Pregnancy, becoming a parent and raising children can bring new fears and uncertainty. We also provide dedicated pregnancy, postpartum and parenting therapy for people navigating these stages of life.
How does anxiety therapy work?
There is no single way to treat anxiety.
Your therapist will work with you to understand what you are experiencing and what you would like to change.
Depending on your needs, therapy may include:
-
Identifying anxiety triggers and patterns
-
Understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours
-
Learning strategies to regulate your nervous system
-
Challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
-
Building tolerance for uncertainty
-
Gradually approaching situations you have been avoiding
-
Developing grounding and mindfulness skills
-
Exploring perfectionism and people pleasing
-
Understanding how past experiences may influence current anxiety
-
Building confidence in your ability to cope
Our therapists use approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness and trauma informed therapy, while adapting treatment to each individual.

What if I don't know why I'm anxious?
When should I consider anxiety therapy?
You don't have to.
Sometimes you know something feels wrong without being able to explain exactly why.
Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what you are experiencing and begin identifying patterns.
You also do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or a clear treatment plan.

You may want to consider therapy if anxiety is:
-
Taking up a significant amount of your mental energy
-
Affecting your sleep
-
Interfering with work, school or parenting
-
Affecting your relationships
-
Causing you to avoid things you want to do
-
Making everyday decisions feel difficult
-
Affecting your confidence
-
Leading to frequent reassurance seeking
-
Leaving you physically or emotionally exhausted
You don't have to wait until anxiety becomes overwhelming before asking for support.

Anxiety therapy for teens and adults

Anxiety can look different at different stages of life.
For teens, anxiety may show up through school avoidance, perfectionism, social worries, irritability, physical symptoms or difficulty separating from parents.
For adults, anxiety may be connected to relationships, work, parenting, health, major life changes or a constant sense that something needs to be managed.
Our therapists can work with you to understand what anxiety looks like in your life and what kind of support would be most useful.
