When everything feels like too much, therapy can provide space to slow down and understand what is contributing to your stress. We can work on emotional overwhelm, burnout, work stress, parenting stress, boundaries, perfectionism and the mental load.

Trauma & Healing

Trauma-informed therapy that prioritizes safety, pacing, and nervous system support.

Life Transitions

Support through change, uncertainty, grief, identity shifts, and major life moments.

Teen Counselling

A supportive space for teens navigating emotions, stress, relationships, and self-identity.

Not sure which area fits you best?

You don’t have to decide alone. We’re happy to help guide you.

Therapy for Different Stages of Life

Our therapists work with people experiencing a wide range of life circumstances.

Teens

Therapy can support teenagers with anxiety, stress, self esteem, school pressure, relationships, emotional regulation, family conflict and major life changes.

Adults

Couples

Couples therapy can provide a structured space to understand recurring patterns, communicate more effectively and work through relationship challenges together.

Expecting and New Parents

Pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood can bring significant emotional and relationship changes. Therapy can support you through the transition while making space for both the difficult and meaningful parts of becoming a parent.

How We Approach Therapy

There isn't one approach that works for everyone.

Our therapists draw from different evidence based approaches depending on their training, your concerns and what feels appropriate for you.

  • These may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness based approaches

  • Trauma informed therapy

  • Attachment informed approaches

  • Gottman Method approaches for couples

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Family systems approaches

  • Person centred therapy

  • Strength based approaches

Your therapist will work collaboratively with you rather than simply telling you what to do.

Therapy is a place to understand yourself, explore patterns, develop new skills and make meaningful changes at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

What Does Therapy Look Like at Beyond Happiness Counselling?

There is no single way to do therapy.

Depending on your therapist and your needs, sessions may involve talking through what has been happening, learning practical skills, exploring patterns in relationships, processing difficult experiences, working on communication or simply having a safe space to slow down and reflect.

Our goal is not to judge you or tell you how you should live your life.

We want you to feel seen, supported and empowered in the process.

In person or virtual therapy?

Walk & Talk Therapy

Beyond Happiness Counselling offers both options.

In person therapy in Waterloo

Virtual therapy across Ontario

For some clients, online therapy makes it easier to fit counselling into work, parenting, school and everyday life.

For some clients, sitting in a traditional therapy office doesn't feel like the right fit.

Walk & Talk therapy combines counselling with gentle movement and time outdoors. It can be an option for clients who find it easier to talk while walking.

Walk & Talk sessions are offered by select therapists, so availability depends on the therapist you choose.

Finding the Right Therapist Matters

Therapy is personal.

The therapist who is right for one person may not be the right fit for someone else. That's why our team has different backgrounds, areas of interest, approaches and personalities.

You can learn more about each therapist before reaching out.
