Founder and Owner | Individual & Couples Therapist

Sandra Karlin is a Registered Psychotherapist and the founder of Beyond Happiness Counselling.

​

She works with adults and couples navigating concerns such as anxiety, trauma, relationships, pregnancy, postpartum experiences and major life transitions.

​

Sandra's approach is warm, collaborative and integrative. She draws from evidence based approaches and adapts therapy to the person or couple in front of her rather than using a one size fits all approach.

​

Sandra has a particular interest in pregnancy and postpartum experiences, trauma, relationships and the transition into parenthood.

​

She also provides couples counselling and has completed Clinical Foundations in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

What type of therapists work at Beyond Happiness Counselling? Beyond Happiness Counselling is a group practice in Waterloo with Registered Psychotherapists, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a Registered Social Worker. Our therapists work with different populations, concerns and therapeutic approaches.

Do all of your therapists work with the same concerns? No. There is some overlap, but each therapist has their own training, experience, areas of focus and populations they work with.

Do all of your therapists offer couples therapy? No. Couples counselling should only be booked with a therapist who provides couples therapy.

Do all of your therapists work with teenagers? No. Teen therapy should be booked with a therapist who works with teenagers.

Which therapist should I see for anxiety? Several therapists may support clients experiencing anxiety. The right fit depends on your age, other concerns, preferred approach and the type of therapeutic relationship you are looking for. If you're unsure, contact us and we can help.

What if I don't know which therapist I need? You don't have to know. Tell us what is happening, what you would like help with and any preferences you have. We'll help you figure out where to start.

Which therapist should I see for couples therapy? Couples therapy is available with therapists who specifically provide couples counselling. Sandra Karlin, Registered Psychotherapist, has completed Clinical Foundations in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Can I request a specific therapist? Yes. You can request a specific therapist when booking, subject to availability and whether they are accepting new clients.

Can I see a therapist online? Yes. Virtual therapy is available across Ontario with therapists who offer online counselling.
